When Arthur was a young boy, he dreamed of adventures along the shore, out of the sea. He would speak to his mother about it, who would giggle and nod, and tell him tales of humans and their world. He listened with wide eyes, grinning from ear to ear.Â
He asked if his mother had ever met a human. With a sigh, she shook her head and told him it was one of her dreams. She then promised that when he was a bit older, they would take a trip to the surface, just the two of them.Â
When the day arrived, Arthur swam beside his mother, holding her hand as they reached the top, Arthur looking to the bright blue sky. He cheered and splashed around, his mother laughing. After, she warned him to be careful. Humans were marvelous creatures, but to merpeople, they could easily be dangerous. Arthur nodded, but almost forgot of her warning when he met a human child by the name of Alfred.
