#MonthOfSpreads2 Day Twenty-One: Goal Analysis
Write out a new short-term goal you want to achieve on a piece of paper. Keep it near you as you do this reading.
Pull nine cards. Read the spread as follows
1. What do I need to be aware of before pursuing this goal?
2. What talents or skills do I possess that can aid me in achieving this goal?
3. What part of myself may hold me back from achieving this goal?
4. What outside forces or obstacles will try to hinder me from achieving this goal?
5-6. How can I overcome these obstacles?
7. What resources or help is at my disposal?
8. How can I hold myself accountable on this journey?
9. What is my first step?
When I developed the Elemental Hexagons deck, I also developed a reading layout that uses nine cards, so I couldn’t help but lay these out in that same pattern. The positions kinda-sorta even line up in a way.
Checking in with the bottom card after the shuffle and cut, Antimony - Ancient Knowledge suggests it’s worth writing all this down ;)
Here’s the diagram and positions labeled for the original reading layout I designed for this deck:
The positions / prompts line up really well for the first three. Positions 4, 5 and 6 less well, but aren’t too crazily different. Position 7 is almost the opposite meaning, but ‘response’ and ‘accountable’ line up pretty well. And of course ‘outcome’ as the first step makes sense.
1. Iodine - Medical Profession. Yes, I am aware that this goal requires professional help.
2. Lead - Shielding • Saturn. I might actually have thick enough skin and/or the patience to go through the process.
3. Zirconium - Self Deception. I’m lying to myself if I think this process isn’t going to be extremely disruptive.
4. Vanadium - The Seeker, a.k.a. The Hermit. In my original layout, this position relates to time, here it’s an obstacle. Looking is not acting.
5. Neon - Messenger • Sign. Big flashing red sign here! Do something!
6. Niobium - Rites of Passage. Doing the Thing is going to help me grow.
7. Phosphorus - Fork in the Road, a.k.a. Judgment. It’s almost like switching prompts 7 and 4 would make this all line up ;) What I’m reading into it is that having choice is a good thing, but too many choices gets unwieldy.
8. Germanium - Disagreement • Neptune. Agree to disagree..? This might make more sense later.
9. Oxygen - Combustion • Crystallization, a.k.a. The Tower. Step one. Burn it all down! Or at least recognize the metaphorical fire that is being lit under my butt...
