Mike Libby is the American multidisciplinary artist originally from Maine and behind the project Insect Labs. This lab is like no others, it was founded when Mike found a dead intact beetle that was then combined with the mechanism of a watch. This amazing assembly gave rise to the first robot insect sculpture of the artist.

Insect Labs therefore focuses on the relationship between the insect world and the world of science fiction. We imagine new kinds of insects as robots and aliens. Thus, the artist explains that “Both biologists and engineers look to insect movement, design and social behavior to inspire new technology and applications.” Finally, Mike insists on the fact that these creations are not functional but may work one day with the advancement in technology.
