Reference P2, P3, P5 & P7 Another method I wanted to explore to create some sort of restrictive facade/boundary was to use some sort of metal eg wire. After discussion with Martin and Dave I decided to try melting pewter and pouring it into a mould to gradually build up sections of the lattice work facade and then to attach them together. Duncan spent time teaching me how to work with pewter using a mould carved into a cuttlefish bone. I was able to create a small section of the facade image with difficulty as the pewter did not flow easily into the details of the mould. I decided to make some ceramic moulds which were finished and fired prior to college locking down. The moulds were fired to ensure that they would be completely dry prior to pouring molten pewter into them as there would be a risk of it spitting if there was any moisture in the mould. These two time lapse films are of me continuing to experiment and work with pewter at home in lockdown today. The first film is using the ceramic mould and the second is using the cuttlefish bone mould. Unfortunately it was not possible to remove the pewter from the ceramic mould.
