The battle was not looking good for the UNSC forces. The Covenant invasion forces were pushing through the city center and killing civilians left and right. The UNSC forces that were stationed on the colony had evacuation plans in action but the sheer numbers of the Covenant forces made it harder and harder to evacuate everyone. Hours into the battle reinforcements had arrived with Spartan-197. Even with reinforcements the UNSC forces were still having a tough time. Their casualty numbers were getting higher and higher as time passed but so were the Covenant casualty numbers. A few more hours had passed and then the ground forces got word from command to retreat. The battle had now become a lost cause.
The Spartan nodded and decided to order the retreat. While the pelicans started landing close by for emergency evac of the troops a bright flash of light shone blinding both warring sides. When the Spartan’s vision came back he saw a girl lying on the ground in the middle of both armies. Her clothing didn’t look like anything he has seen in his life. She looked human and if he were to guess age his estimate would be around 15-18. His attention turned to one of the Covenant Elites when it noticed the girl too. Acting fast he ran towards the girl and covered her body as the Elite fired a round at the girl. The plasma round had hit the titanium-alloy plated armor around the right shoulder burning and melting the shoulder armor plating slightly. It seemed that the girl was unharmed.
The remaining marines saw what the Spartan did and were influenced by his heroism. They stayed to give the Spartan and the girl covering fire. The Covenant forces started to return fire and focused their fire on the Spartan. The armor plating taking most of the shots.

A Royal Disaster
Leo grunted in pain, clutching his side where a shuriken protruded. He was not the best position right now; he’d underestimated the enemy and wound up not only with a projectile in him, but getting knocked off his horse and into a ravine. He’d lost consciousness, and after waking up, noted the sound of battle had stopped, Leo tried to stand, but the pain was too much.
Then, he heard first steps, and panicked. The prince reached for Brynhildr, which lat only a few feet away, but couldn’t reach. Things were not looking well.
