I went from being very physically active to getting the "your body doesn't make energy properly anymore" disability so I can completely understand the grief that comes with circumstances outside your control destroying parts of you you were once proud of and locking you out of the life you could have had. Just recently saw a post that someone reblog about someone writing about a fic they object to and stating they thought, as the ship involved a minor, that it is surely a reflection of their morals and surely they were a paedophile.

I'm not sure how plain I must be.

THIS IS NOT HOW IT WORKS.

Stephen King, George R R Martin, Virginia Andrews and many other notes and respected authors have written stuff that others may consider 'problematic'

No one has accused them of immorality, FFS.

Stop holding fanfic writers to higher standards.

And don't slag off authors who write stuff you object to, just block and jog on.

I think ao3 is literally the only site where no censorship means no censorship. you can post the most vile things on there — things that will get taken down on any other platforms — and ao3 will protect you, your works, and your rights to create whatever you want, however you want.

and no, this isn’t me saying “write that messed up, disgusting thing” because while, yes, write it if it’s what you want (I myself enjoy writing dark fics, something I believe would be considered “vile” to a lot of people), this is me saying in a world of censorship and capitalism, ao3 really is a treasure.

even if you post the most obviously ragebait discourse post, it is like a rule of the internet at this point that somebody will eventually come along and fully agree with it.

i swear this is what happened with the "child coded" stuff. years ago, the first time i heard of this was from a ragebait "writing tips" twitter account. everyone who also saw it at the time said that it was stupid (and obviously ragebait) and nowadays see people(antis) sharing basically exactly what was on that account but now fully serious.
