#customized breyer

Here is Comet Dust! He is a small size stablemate Breyer customized with color shifting enamel paint. This was a mis-formulated color that doesn’t go on smoothly over large areas so I got hold of it for cheap. Fortunately, this is a small horse & it works just fine here...the purple & blue areas shift and change as you pick up the horse and turn it in the light. An aqua mane & tail are a nice compliment to the shimmering 2-tones. The hooves are an extra-sparkly aqua. I like the playful, active pose and swirling hair of this sculpt! It needed some real eye-catching colors & this paint really delivered. He’ll be the first in a series of astronomy-themed color-shifting horses if I get my way.

Lady Tidepool Another broken-Breyer custom! This one was a sad mare who was missing one of her back feet from about the ankle down and wouldn’t stand. (A flea find, so of course they have long since lost the piece) She was given a new foot (it’s thicker than the natural one because the clay is too delicate to be super thin like the original plastic and still hold up...too bad) some new hair (mane was sparse, suffered from ‘horse pattern baldness’?? I guess?-- Sculpted with no hair behind her ears for a while till the mane starts- looks weird) and made the tail more longer & fantasy like. Then, she has both ear tips put back on. She’s a gorgeous new shimmer-tone from Artist Loft paints! Her legs have ‘twinkle medium’, and the hooves are aqua sparkle enamel. Her eyes stayed original. Lady Tidepool lives by the sea on the tropical island, and collects pearls to make into necklaces to wear & set in her hair. (These are glass beads) She’s very calm and loves to watch the colorful tide pool animals.

COLOR CHANGING Fantasy Horse! Dream Galaxy is the first to actually change color depending on how you hold him. No part of the horse is black. The camera hates-hates the color shifting paint so it’s very hard to capture just how cool this paint is. The legs switch from purple to aqua. The sides switch from blueish to purple. The back (directly on top) is shimmer darkness purple, as is the top of the face. The nose is silver/aqua. All the hooves are glitter enamel, but don’t change colors. So excited! I love color changing things. This horse is so exciting to finally be able to make. The paint was expensive & sort of difficult but so super worth it. He was originally a Traditional Size Breyer, with gray spatter type paint. However, someone had scuffed him about 2 inches long on the underside. There would be no way to fix it (Because the spatter) so he becomes Dream Galaxy. That white sock there on the back foot I kept...it’s one of the aquas without the dark mixer.  The mane and tail are not color-shifting, they’re a blend of blues and purples but with pearlization. The camera may not be so excited, but I can’t wait for more inspiration for such rich, color changing fantasy elements!
