#customer rant

so, i wasnt scheduled to work yesterday, but one of my cool coworkers asked me to take his shift cause he was gonna be working 6 days in a row. i typically work in the back of my store, in cosmetics, but he was scheduled to work the main registers. me, needing money (especially cause im about to blow a LOT of money at a concert this weekend), took the shift.

all was going decently well, a few typical assholes, but pretty well. until this woman came in. she was middle aged and had 3 kids with her, all below the age of 8. and let me tell you, she could NOT control these kids to save her LIFE. they were running around the registers, screaming, trying to steal gum and toys, etc. to begin, she wasnt making any effort to scold her children or get them to control themselves.

then she caught an attitude with me. you see, our quantity keys dont work for anything below 20. so if theres less than 20 items, even if its 19, we have to individually ring them up. she had 18 folders she wanted rung up and said there was 18 of them. i explained i had to ring them individually, and she said "WELL FOD FORBID I TRY TO MAKE YOUR JOB EASIER, RIGHT?"

in my head im thinking, well jeez, maybe if you learned how to control your kids, you wouldnt be an asshole to people trying to do their JOB.

but i let it go. she then went on about how slow the cashiers at my company are, and how she's never coming back because she felt "disrespected"

as she left, i waved and told her bye.
