DASHBOARD MODE: This RSVP lets other players know youβll be participating in the event and some basic information for the events that will unfold. This method of play means that you will be following the main and canonical turn of events as posted in public posts on this blog. You will not receive any custom events if you apply this way, to receive custom events you must either apply with a custom night RSVP instead or additionally in a separate submission. This method of RSVP is purely promotional and optional, and is not required to play.
CUSTOM NIGHT MODE (SINGLE APPLICATION): This RSVP is for people that wish to have a different experience than the normal dashboard mode. By applying as a single custom night player, you will be assigned to a random group of fellow applicants with a minimum of four other players. Your group will get prompts that differ from the canonical timeline for the event every forty-eight hours while the event is running. You will also have access to an informational only discord during the event to receive these prompts, ask questions and customize the types of events you can trigger. This method of RSVP is mandatory if you wish to play this way, and has a deadline of October 12th.
CUSTOM NIGHT MODE (GROUP APPLICATION): This RSVP is for groups of friends who want to experience a custom night play mode within their circle. All custom night features carry over, with the exception of being limited only to whom they apply with. Only your group will have access to your custom night. There must be a minimum of four people in your group. This method of RSVP is mandatory if you wish to play this way, and has a deadline of October 12th.

This year marks the introduction of Custom Night !Β A unique experience with events that trigger based on personal choices and build off of one another in a more closed environment for a continuity driven experience.
But what is Custom Night? How is it different? How does it work? How do you join? This step by step guide will talk you through every step of the Custom Night experience in both single player and multiplayer mode.
Your typical dash event format, a main account publishes βevent prompts or activitiesβ that the participating characters can react to or partake in at specific times that contribute to a loose narrative based on the events concept: (eg: A Costume Ball would have a dinner, a dance, perhaps a costume contest. A trip to a resort might have a Spa Day, A Scuba Diving Day, A Night out on the town, etc etc. )
The players use a specific tag to mark posts participating in that event, and to allow others participating in that event to find them and interact. Established partners might have specific plots that they enact over the course of these events; but essentially the prompts are a loose guide and not a strict narrative they are apart of. One participant isnβt co-existing in the same universe as every other participant typically. You can also choose to opt out of prompts you donβt wish to do.
No application process is required, the most might be an information form to share to your followers about any important information important to the event --- but its not mandatory. To join, you merely need to just start posting and replying to others.
What is Custom Night?:
Participants of Custom Night have two options when joining: you can apply as a single participant or as a group. There arenβt too many differences between them, but there are a few that will be touched upon later.Β
Players have options between writing on the dash together for their followers to see, or in private --- however, your prompts are custom prompted by a generator that has been filtered to your preferences and will be a more personal experience for you and your group members. They will not the ones posted on the blog --- although you might see some crossover for major events. Everyone sharing your custom night prompts is in the same universe, and will often encourage interaction with each other and will build off of the story that has been generated for you. This is a more focused and narrative experience.
An application is required to participate in this, everyone will be accepted but there is prep work that needs to be done so there is a deadline. The application is submitted via a google form that can be found linked at the bottom of this post and on our blog.
Firstly, you need to apply. Fill out the applicable google form, read over instructions for the sections carefully because not every spot will apply to you. Within 2 business days, you will receive a IM confirmation from nightmareonbleeckerstreet on tumblr, confirming your application.
As the event grows closer, you will receive information through IMs for a discord group dedicated to the event where you will finalize details for your custom story. This group will be used for ooc conversation only between your group and the moderators.
This is also where you will get your Team Name and Prompts as the event continues. Youβll have a check in every week for any major things thatΒ you guys have written that should be factored in your event generation. Prompts come every other day.
Your prompts are private, but in the weekly recap for the event, your Team will also have a small section included for your own benefit and also to share the fun with others. This section will include a small recap of what has happened to your group so far.
A few weeks after the event, your team will get a written recap and graphic that can be reblogged by all members. As well as the ability to vote for events that happen next year as a bonus!
You will be placed in a randomly assigned team based on the answers you gave in your form. Ensuring you do not end up in a group that has options you didn't want active.
Groups will have a minimum of four (three only if we have uneven numbers) players, and a maximum of six (seven if uneven numbers)
MULTIPLAYER MODE:
You will be applying with a group of people you already know, this mode is meant for friends who want to share a custom experience together.
You will come up with a passphrase, that notifies us that you are in the same group when applying.
For the application process, one person will be the Main Applicant (this is purely to spare the process of getting multiple people having to submit the exact same information. They will fill out everything in the Main Applicant section, these questions merely state the settings your group will have decided already upon. (eg: can members of your group die? do you require a happy ending? are any of you minors or play minors?)
The rest of your group will apply afterwards, filling in the Additional Applicant section only, where your own information is required that will help us contact you.
Everyone will fill out the final section, with their personal preferences for the game.
Based on your information, we will compile a selection of prompts that fit your criteria.
The standard size is a minimum of four and a maximum of six, but exceptions can be made if you contact the event blog directly before applying
Of course!Β You are more than welcome to play in each of the three ways, or any combination of them --- just make sure you apply to any custom night you wish to do before October 12th.
You can also toss multiple characters in!Β Have Character A on Team 1, Character B on Team D and Character C on the dash. Or whatever combination you wish!
We only ask that you make sure you are active in your custom groups at least twice a week, to ensure forward momentum for your story.Β
