Spirit Companionship in Non-Western Cultures
In light of recent events, in which I had a rocky discussion with a western spirit conjurer and another one with my friend who wanted to sell his khodam to foreigners, I've realized something... A lot of you don't know what Khodam is. Or Lukthep. Or any forms of spirit companionship that isn't based in western beliefs.
This results in a LOT of misunderstandings between conjurers and spirit workers of different cultures. I've seen it happen multiple times, not just here, but also on sites like Etsy and Instagram. Oh, plenty of cultural appropriation too, because ppl throws the word Khodam around like it's child's play.
If you're interested in a post detailing what a khodam is (and why it's important to know it), do respond to this post. I wanna check the interest before I wrote it. It's a chance to learn about magick in other cultures, so I hope a lot of you would want to know about it.
If the post gains traction, I'll also make one about Lukthep, a thai tradition where you take care of a child spirit as your own baby. Maybe start a blog series for Eastern folk magick.
It will no doubt be an amazing inspiration for your path and practice.
