In 1974, a glam rock star tries to fakes his own murder to move away from the limelight but fails miserably. In 1984, a journalist is tasked with finding out the glam rock star's real story.

Curt Smith is one of the very first introduced secondary characters from Mystify Me, he’s Ben’s roommate and ill-fitting love interest. But he wasn’t always that.

Curt is a character that I (Lex) have been working on for a long time. One of the very first, in fact. 

Curt was born from massive inspiration from the movie Velvet Goldmine: A movie about the revolution of Glam Rock in London. In this film, the two main characters are based on Iggy Pop and David Bowie. 

Ewan McGregor, with his character Curt Wild, plays the Iggy Pop-based rocker and does such a brilliant job at it. Their story touched me so deeply that it was the birth of my very first fanfiction.

Curt was originally written with his counter-part from the film, Brian Slade. (Played by Jonathan Rhys Meyers, and also absolutely brilliant in the performance.) 

Later on, the character developed his own identity and was no longer the one from the film, however I could never bring myself to change his name.
