Wondrous familiarity awaited Zeev as he entered the town of Murbrook. Shrouded in seclusion, adorned by nature in its purest formโlush evergreens and a choppy river. As much as Zeev felt a well-known pull, an aversion took hold of him at the same time. The private town had much in common with Sundawn it seemed, the occult roots deeply entangled in the soil of which they were built. Zeev had felt the glances towards him immediatelyโtheir confusion, their disapproval, but also their interest and curiosity. All of which wasn't unbeknownst to Zeev, nor unexpected. In reality, he would have felt far more uncomfortable if the people around this speck of the States, wouldnโt have reacted to his presence at all. Another glimpse of familiarity and yet another source of relief. However, all else felt entirely different. Zeev had only heard rumours about the townโs history and as it was with rumours, they varied from person to location and vice versa. Undoubtedly, as Zeev wandered the streets, seemingly aimless, he couldnโt deny the prickle the air left upon his skin. Something resembling anticipationโbut also the deep, natural stream of something manifestly palpable. He just couldnโt quite grab it. Yet.ย
The weather wasnโt to Zeevโs liking, the sun hiding behind big grey towers, keeping her veiled, prohibiting her from keeping her watchful eye on his every move. Movements that were careful as they were relaxed, leading him down the narrow roads, past picturesque homes and front yards. The apparent tranquillity gave off a false sense of safety, even though he didnโt assume his life to be in danger, he still preferred to avoid any kind of trouble. Zeev loved knowledge and he loved historyโespecially if it could turn out helpful for his cause. The few people he spotted might as well have been from Sundawn, too. Speaking quietly with one another, judging what they saw, keeping secrets Zeev never had time to ask for to be revealed. But thatโs what isolation does to a person; it makes them wary.ย
Despite feeling her presence close to him, it had been way too late if she had been someone to aim for harm. He turned his head towards her the second she started to speak.ย
โWhat's on your mind?โ @cursedher said.
A strange first question to ask, but then again, he was in a strange townโand he was strange himself, too. These facts considered it seemed like a perfectly fine thing to ask. Murbrook most definitely wasnโt used to many visitors and everyone who came, probably seemed like following an intention. And as he felt his forehead relax, the creases flattening, he most definitely had looked the part, too. He scrutinised her, noticing the distant, almost unapproachable facial expression, underlaid with soft and warm attributes, most definitely capable of joy. Zeev figured, she wasnโt cold, she was just careful. A trait he could work with. His lips curved into an inviting smile. Head tilted slightly, he met her eyes. โIโve been thinking about how much this all reminds me of home,โ he answered truthfully. โBut thatโs not necessarily a compliment.โ Lightly, he chuckled.
