Imagine:
It’s the middle of the evening. You and Mark have decided to retire for the night, leaving any further work for tomorrow. You two have opted to cook a proper homemade dinner together tonight, as opposed to the usual takeout or delivery.
While cooking, you turn on some music. The both of you playfully mess around in the kitchen while preparing the dish. You crack jokes, sing together, and enjoy each other’s company.
Mark puts your unspecified dish into the oven and sets the timer. While waiting, the two of you decide to dance. At first, it begins with lighthearted, joking dances. Mark dabs, and you try to do one of those bad Fortnite dances from Tik Tok or something. The both of you laugh and do your best to make the other do so as well.
After a little while, you two calm down and start to dance more casually, more intimately. You both put your arms around each other and sway to the music. You lean into each other and simply enjoy each other’s warmth and the feeling of another person with you. A tender moment passes and you find yourself mumbling, “I love you.”
He smiles and changes his hold into that more of a hug. “I love you too,” he mumbles back. His eyes are soft as you both look at each other. You and Mark lean in and kiss. It’s a sweet, gentle kiss. When the two of you pull away, you both realize something.
Your food is burning. Oh god, it’s burning. You both awkwardly rush to get it out of the oven as soon as you can. You both manage to save most of it, but it’ll be a pain to wash out of the pan later. You both laugh about it though, and continue with your night.
