Matty was Scout's whole world. He was the only unchanging person in her fucked up life, and she clung to it.

So, when Scout woke up one day, and Matty was gone, it sent her spiraling.

Message after message, call after call, she tried for weeks to get in contact with her brother.

It was to no avail, of course. If Matty let himself respond to Scout's messages, he knew that he would do something very very stupid, and get them both hurt. It was only better if he ignored her.

Scout didn't see it that way, though. Every time her calls went to voicemail, she became twice as determined to get through. She just had to try harder!!

But after a while, Scout began to loose hope. Maybe Matty just really didn't want her around...

To Scout, the sun orbited around Matty, and when Matty left, that orbit stopped.

For once in her life, Scout Winchester was all alone.

how does scout feel about matty's attitude towards sam?? for a long, long time he's very resentful towards him, and while he still loves him deep down, he struggles with showing it. he's quite unkind to sam unfortunately, and i was wondering how scout would feel about that?

also, matty has a picture of him and scout in the inside pocket of his jacket and i thought you should know. it's the truth. it's factual. i feel it in my soul.

scout feels incredibly conflicted about matty and sam's relationship for a very long time. after ruby's death, sam and matty were the only people who seemed to care for her. dean's silent resentment was palpable. he didn't trust scout. considered her an extension of the monster who had manipulated and corrupted his brother.

so the fact that the only two people in the world who mattered in scout's eyes - who loved her - seemed to be constantly at ends with one another really hurt her. she just wanted them to get along!!!

however, when it was revealed in s6 that sam was in fact alive, but just hadn't bothered to reach out to anybody, scout was crushed. now, both of her favourite people in the world were avoiding her.

it felt like she had done something wrong, and scout began to blame herself. maybe if she didn't exist, they would like each other more. after all, dean could never trust scout enough to give her all of the facts. she didn't know all of the things that had happened between sam and matty before she was born.

also, i like to imagine the picture of them both was taken at bobby's, both of them curled up together on the old, musty couch, as scout practiced her reading

every so often when he'd get a message from her, that he wished he could go back and just grab her, bring her to meet the people who he knew she would fit right in with, but couldn't build up the courage to?

and on that note, do you think he would get a bit of a sick feeling when he read scout's messages? because when dean went to lisa & ben after sam went to hell, he resorted strongly to alchoholism. do you think that those messages from scout felt like they resembled the messages matty used to send dean about john?

quick psa to anyone reading this who is not aware of the Cursecub Horrors, scout is my friend judith's OC, and jude is matty's no1 fan. so, to combine these two factors, we came up with an agenda where matty and scout exist in the same universe and are like miserable siblings — even though matty would technically be scoutie's uncle!!

anyway!! we digress!!

the answer to this is overwhelmingly simple: yes. matty regrets it every second of every day. he misses her to death. sure, it's nice to be with new people, and it's good to get away from the hunting life, but he spends so much time thinking about scout that everything good just feels hollow. he's surrounded by all these things she'd appreciate and she isn't even there to see them.

a huge house with clean, pretty bedsheets and a kitchen where no one ever fights. peace and quiet. acres of forest surrounding them. geese kept in the garden, flowers growing in the grass, a place where nobody's itching to fight something or get back on the road, and scout isn't here. it's ruined to him.

he sits on his bed upstairs for hours at a time, listening to her voice messages over and over until he's got them memorised. then, he plays them back to himself in his head. eating breakfast with scout's voice in his ear, drifting uneasily off to sleep as the dial tone ends her message. he wants to go back and get her so badly. he wants to save her and protect her and keep her safe with pippa and claude forever and ever and ever, but he can't face dean. not if everything's already as messy as it is.
