Sissel swung her legs out of the car and walked briskly up the street, pulling her coat around her in the light but chilly autumn rain. The clouds were dark and heavy, promising more rain coming, or possibly even snow; Sissel hoped that her plan to pick up some takeaway before going to visit Yomiel wouldn’t be much delayed by the weather. She wondered if the prison would let her bring some to her fiancé; he ate everything with such enjoyment now that it seemed a shame to deny him this small pleasure. She would try, anyway.
The restaurant was new, but the smell of curry, delicious and savory, already permeated the air for a block around. The place was already developing a reputation for its all-you-can-eat curry buffet on Thursday evenings and the live music on Wednesdays; Sissel had thus made her plans for a Tuesday, hoping to avoid a crowd. Maybe someday she could come back with Yomiel on a date.
