“Today is my birthday. I’m very happy, maybe this year I’ll grow a bit taller… yes, I *am* happy, even if I don’t look like it. Emotions… I can feel them, I can empathize with others, but I cannot show them. My face remains unchanged and my voice remains flat. I wish I could smile… would it be cute? Would it make others smile along? Would it aspire laughter?… I may think about it a bit too often. Perhaps that is my wish then. I wish to smile with everyone else.”
