y'know how sometimes in this fandom you see a design or a name and you're like "cool" and then you scroll because you didn't recognize them

that was me with kagekao when I was 14 and now I'm like "I know that name and that look but who is this man"

idk how I missed it because as far as I can tell he's popular but he slipped under my radar 😭😭 have never met the man, I just know he's drawn with wine a lot?

sorry I haven't been posting many fun things lately, October came and went and suddenly I have a million things to do!

also I've been watching hazbin and revising my hazbin ocs n stuff and my fandom brain is just everywhere!

I think the main difference between a "creep" and a proxy is simply that one is employed and the other is not.

I'll talk about this in future posts, but in my little world, there are multiple Operators and Slender is just one of them.

A proxy, by definition, is a representative of someone or something else. They are carrying out someone else's orders and someone else's ideas and actions and agendas. This means that most proxies aren't necessarily morally aligned with their jobs. For example- Tim. Tim hates his job. He does not like killing. But killing and the like is his job.

Creeps on the other hand are free agents. They may work in tandem with Operators or take shelter with Operators but are not owned or employed by them. They do need to offer something in return for shelter, though.

Ben is a good example. I like to put him in the "mansion" setup with everyone else, but he's not a proxy. He does what he does for fun and in return for a roof over his head and socialization he'll mess with technology systems to make sure missions go even smoother than they already would have.

Creeps are more likely to enjoy their "professions" and proxies are less likely to. However there is always the exception- Toby enjoys being a proxy, and Eyeless Jack hates being a creep. Toby has a much better life as a proxy and Eyeless Jack has no choice in his life changes.

(Though sometimes I think of Jack as a proxy because I feel like he's lonely and would take the community and belonging of the setup even if it meant he'd be killing more).

Creeps have a more give-and-take deal with operators whereas proxies are employed whether they like it or not. Their payment is a roof and not dying.

A couple more examples to get my point across:

Kate the Chaser: A proxy, she's there against her will. Laughing Jack: a creep, he does it for shits and giggles. Jeff: I go back and forth with him but I think he's a creep who just collaborates for the sake of consistent shelter. Habit: by my definition he's a creep because he used to have a symbiotic relationship with Slender and now he does not. But he was always getting something in return for his services. Hoodie: He's a proxy. Hates his job. Would not be doing this if he had a choice.
