Antelope Canyon is one of the most photographed slot canyons in the world, located close to the city of Page (Arizona). The canyon was formed from (continued) flash flooding and rain and there is an upper and a lower canyon which can only be accessed by taking a guided tour. The area is part of the Lake Powell Navajo Tribal Park and the land is owned by a family of Native Americans (cousins). Before European discovery, Antelope Canyon was the home to numerous pronghorn antelopes, hence its name, and cattle used to graze here in the winter.
Β The Canyon was easily one of the most impressive places I have seen today β the range of orange hues radiate all around you as you move through the narrow passageways. Itβs incredible seeing what years and years of weather patterns can create and that all of this is hidden below the ground which on the surface just looks like a plain desert.
