For the DA ship asks! 2, 9, 20 for Yelena and Cullen πππππ
2. What is one consistent fight that they have with their partner(s)?
You mean what miss "magic has no morality" and and mister "mages are not people like you and I" fight about? Surprisingly not about magic or the like.
Something that consistently leads to fights would be Yelenas tendency to just not acknowledge her own hurts or more broadly both of their tendencies to be reckless in their actions and choices, always thinking of the now and not the devastating aftermath.
Yelena cares for Cullen deeply and lovingly and witout the need to ask, but she doesn't let him care for her the same. And to Cullen its agonising not being able to help the woman you love, terrifying to be helpless when faced with her pains you didn't know existed. Yelena doesn't show her weaknesses, whatever they may be, because in the life she lived to show them was to die. When faced with a foe that waits for you to mistep or or show any sign of weakness you cannot be anything else than unshaken. To unlearn that, to be know and seen in all aspects of her self and her inability to do so often leads to a lot of grief for Cullen.
On a more lighter note: the fight of if the window stays open or closed during the night will never be settled. But that's the burden a woman who still feels cold under a hill of blankets in the middle of summer and a man who sweats in the depths of winter have to bear.
9. Is there anyone in their life that disapproves of the relationship?
If it has to be someone it would be Yelenas brother, Ilya. He distrusted Cullen the moment he crossed his path in Skyhold and was only moments away from ramming his glaive through his chest.
Ilya still remembers the hurt both of them experienced at the mercy of templars, still remembers his sisters sobs and her blood on his hands, so seeing her so close to one makes his skin itch. It takes him a fairly long time to ease up to Cullen and longer still for the hostility to vanish from his tongue. Yet his careful gaze will never vanish from Cullen.
20. Is there a sentimental object they associate with their partner(s)? What is it? Was it a gift?
The obvious ones would be Cullens coin for Yelena, which she constantly wears around her neck and the woven talisman securely fasted around Cullens sword.
The less obvious ones would be the vial of myrrh and elfroot tincture, with delicate swirls within the glass. Light always sparkles off it like tiny stars and whenever Cullen runs his thumb across the smooth edges he can't help but think of Yelenas vallaslin. It was given to him by Yelena after an off-handed comment about his joints hurting. It was less a gift and more so that Yelena left it on his desk after he refused to take it. It has found it's place on his small vanity ever since.
For Yelena it would the sword girdle Cullen gifted her on her first name-day during the Inquisition. He had noticed that the one she had been using wasn't the right lenght nor the right suit for her shortsword and took it upon himself to see to it that their leader would be adequately equipped. The leather has floral carvings and the fastenings are made to align with her armor at the hip. Yelena cares for and (cherishes it) as much as her blouse embroidered by her mother.
