Obligatory disclaimer; while I usually post my holiday photos in roughly chronological order, not all of these were taken on the same day.
My cottage was located in the tiny crofting village of Torrin, not quite in the shadow of the dramatic Black Cuillin but with fantastic views of the mountain Blà Bheinn (an outlier of said range) on clear days. The Cuillin isn’t actually all that high as Scotland’s mountains go - the highest summit, Sgùrr Alasdair, is 992m/3,255ft - but its gabbro crags are very steep, very jagged, and best treated with nothing less than the utmost respect; even serious hillwalkers are advised to get an experienced guide before attempting a traverse of the ridge. One of my mum’s cousins is practically The Amazing Human Ibex, and even he hired a professional.
Swirl by Pete Rowbottom, Wigan, UK Via Flickr: The last from a sequence of shots on the Elgol Coastline from this evening. This was just after Sunset and there is still some great colours in the sky, the tide was well on it's way in at this point and with each surge the waves broke higher up onto the beach leaving the photographer the job of picking the shutter speed and the right receding wave to shoot. A little further into the scene the sea is a lot more violent, and can be seen crashing over one of the remaining sea stacks.
