Contextual Statement
Our goal was to create a game that sparks up conversation. We went through many different ways of exploring this but every idea was too much of a workload in such a small amount of time. So we kept looking and decided to create a game that was based on dialogue. The Idea of the game is to help various characters through their regrets by talking them through it. There is also the option of not wanting to help them.
There are many other dialogue system games out there where what you say, will effect the game. Life Is Strange is a good example of this. It will give you a choice of up to four different dialogue options and tell you when somebody will remember what you said. This means that there are good and bad options, or at least options that will affect the outcome of your journey.
Reflective Statement
I am really happy with the animations I have created. Unfortunately I was not able to implement some of the animations I made, such as the player walking animation or talking animations or switching from a happy to sad state in the characters. They became way too time consuming, not just for me but for the others since they would have to code it into the game as well so we decided not to use them.
Our group, even though we fought quite a bit, banded together to create this game and I believe that that effort has really shown in the outcome of the game. I believe that the arguments actually helped since we always managed to come to a compromise and work even better because of it. Next time, I would get straight into building a prototype. We focused too much on the information surrounding the options of the text and not the dialogue system itself. This didn’t allow us as much time to prototype and gather opinions. Everything else from that I believe was good. Our team worked as a whole and we all pulled our weight to create this game.
