Portrait of a philosophy professor. He's an odd duck. Has a ton of antique furniture, but doesn't know it's history. Has a big piano in the middle of his loft, but has no idea how to play it. He wanted me to take the stereotypical "philosopher amongst giant book collection" picture and just leave, but I refused and explained that, because it was the obvious image, I would take it last if I did at all. We then had a conversation about how American culture loves the cliche in the context of my struggles with photography and taking images that go beyond what is expected. The images I like the most are frequently ones that tell the more subtle stories of a place, person or event and consequently are chosen less often for publication.
