Nyle DiMarco at California School for the Deaf in Riverside. Photo Credit: CSDR High School Photography Class
“On Monday immediately after the L.A. Deaf Awareness weekend event, CSDR was overwhelmingly thrilled to receive a personal special appearance and presentation by a rising celebrity, Nyle DiMarco. DiMarco, who is Deaf, is one of the seven latest finalists out of 31 competitors on the current season of America’s Next Top Model #ANTM.
DiMarco gave his presentation twice to two age groups of CSDR students: Elementary/Middle School, and then High School. Among the focus of the star’s presentation was anti-cyberbullying- DiMarco encouraged CSDR students to pursue their dreams, and that their dream becomes more attainable when they keep up an appropriate role-model behavior towards others, including through social media. DiMarco credits his educational upbringing at a school for the Deaf for helping him develop confidence and pride as a Deaf person, to succeed in life without questioning himself.
After the presentation, not a second went by without people flocking to talk to or get a picture with the rising star. Fans included two high school students, Reverlin and Kyra, who approached DiMarco for his autograph on their skilled, personal drawings of the model (see images). Thanks to Friends of CSDR for sponsoring the guest speaker’s visit.
