For those who are not familiar with Gemmy Rhodonite, it mainly comes in mass/rough form with an occasional crystal face when we are lucky. Dogtooth Calcite is one of the first minerals Karen collected 25 years ago when she started our business. Her first piece was from Mexico. I also fell in love with them and helped her add to the collection. Many years later, the history of the Tennessee Mines (the premier location for these specimens) has had ups and downs with the production of these specimens onto the market. There were times where they were snuck out by miners and others when the owners allow them to be released. Times when the mines was closed, and times when production was as rapped up. Currently, the better known Elmwood and Cumberland Mine are closed while the close by Gordonsville Mine is the only mine producing. They are opening a new mine now, and it will run toward the Cumberland Mine.
