I mean, it's in the name! (fun fact though, Emerald was named after their mother's first inherited item, an emerald necklace). ok so the way hair colours work in the world has to do something with evolution & selective breeding. Yk how animals would grow fur to adapt to certain environments and such? That's how they'd work here :D I.e, if you were born somewhere cold or wintery, one's hair would be lighter coloured and if you were born somewhere more foresty, it'd be black, brown, greenish, yellowish, etc. (in certain communities, this is total opposite) The more dominant gene (ex, blonde wins brown) would be most commonly inherited by the child, etc etc. In rare cases like Emerald, the colours would fuse and make a whole new colour entirely - Emerald's dad was blonde and Emerald's mother had deep blue hair. Royals back then had the tendency to keep their lineages "pure" as they were in real life and often married their own cousins to keep the hair the same colour as it was. (yeah, ew.) LMAAAO OK so, YES they will interact in the story - however I'm still teetering on whether or not they will be shipped or not. At the current moment they are NOT shipped together because of Ruby's circumstances and trust issues, and Emerald's role of the story + their mental health. They both have a lot to work on for themselves and it's best that I do not announce them "shipped" at the current moment. As for interaction, on a basic level, Emerald causes some government-provided chaos and Ruby sorts it out for them/investigates further/covers it up. OK SO THAT WAS A WILD JOURNEY FOR SURE Aight so lemme start at the beginning. When I was a kid I LOVED Steven Universe, I'd watch clips of it on YouTube cuz I didn't have cable at the moment so I'd be watching my fave clips of my fave cartoons all the time. One day, I woke up earlier than everyone and decided to watch cartoons, I clicked on a random episode and I watched it AND I BECAME INTENSELY ENAMOURED WITH THE CHARACTER EMERALD. THEY WERE LIKE SO COOL AND I LOVED THEIR VOICE THEIR DESIGN THEIR PERSONALITY, EVERYTHING. But when I found out that they LITERALLY NEVER SHOW UP AGAIN, I WAS SO MAD THAT I DECIDED TO MAKE A WHOLE OC OFF OF THEM, mainly copying their in-show design at the start but I eventually evolved their design so that they looked (somewhat) like their current design. Eventually, I needed a story for them cuz I had online friends and saw lots of creators I liked with cool and exciting stories and I decided to give it a shot cuz I was HYPERFIXATING HARD. The first instance of the story was inspired directly by Steven Universe and Wander Over Yonder - a cool space adventure crew where the main characters would explore new worlds and bond with each other. I eventually turned it to one thing to another to another to another, adding more and more and more characters and stuff cuz I couldn't make up my mind about the plot!! My friends would often criticize my writing, saying that it is not interesting and not unique to me. I took the advice to heart of course, since it would be a while that I've been working on the project, I just couldn't give it up. Until I had started daydreaming about Emerald in war, and how they're a decorated person. I then evolved Emerald into a more military-esque character. From being a snarky, flirty, sadistic General to what they are now! I eventually decided to scrap the whole "space and expedition" idea cuz that'd take A LOT of writing and worldbuilding altogether, so I eventually decided to keep it "down to earth" . I'd also take my interest in WW2 into play in this world-building, in which I have evolved it to what it is today. Funnily enough, YES! The real reasoning why people in the world of Crystal Monarchi name their offspring after gems depends on two factors! 1. The offspring's hair colour 2. Their religion And additionally their country/region! Because Gem Names are like how people name their children after idols or famous people in religious or historical texts, ie; Michael, Jesus, Adam, Ali, etc. !! All different [gems] are actually saints or idols in whichever religion one is in!! There are other characters (WHOM YOU WILL MEET SOON) who have totally normal names like Engel, Rudolph, Kasparov, Anny, etc!! Thank you again for asking!! Alright so, Crystal Monarchi is about Emerald (and other characters) working in a specialized government faction called the "Executioner's Corps." who aims to take down fascism and terrorism in Europe in the 1950s to early 1960s This is an alternate history story btw ^^ Our main character is Emerald von Moritz whom was serving a prison sentence for war crimes, however due to the lack of manpower (and sane people), they decide to give Emerald a chance to redeem themselves by serving their purpose! Emerald would agree and tons of chaos and plot ensues I'm still in the developmental phase of this story but I'm so glad you took an interest in it!! Tysm for asking :D !!
