Seeking help to clear a sudden visa hurdle and save my second chance ($2500 goal)
Hi everyone, I'm reaching out anonymously because I am caught in a terrifying administrative trap, and I'm trying everything I can to save the life I've built.
My Story: For most of my life, my entire world revolved around being a single mom. I worked relentlessly in the corporate world to provide for my son and build a secure, stable home for us. But a few years ago, I lost everything I had spent decades building.
With my son grown, I took a terrifying leap of faith and moved across the world to Southeast Asia to start completely over from scratch.
It hasn't been easy, but it has been beautiful. I found a new calling teaching English to wonderful students, and in my quiet hours, I write and self-publish books. Piece by piece, I have rebuilt a modest, safe life for myself.
The Emergency: Now, a simple bureaucratic rule threatens to pull the rug out from under me again. My passport expires in March, and my work visa cannot be legally renewed without 6 months of passport validity. I thought I could just renew it at my local embassy, but they informed me that overseas processing takes over 6 months and it will not arrive in time.
The ONLY way to keep my legal working status, my teaching job, and the life I've fought so hard to rebuild is to fly back to my home country and process it in person (which takes 1 to 3 weeks).
I have poured every ounce of my energy into starting over, but I simply do not have the funds for an unexpected intercontinental flight. If I can't get on that plane, I risk losing my job and my legal status completely, undoing all the progress I've made since losing everything.
The Goal: $2500 for a return flight and other traveling expenses.
If anyone can spare even a few dollars, it would mean the world to me. I know what it takes to rebuild from nothing, and I am just trying to hold onto the life I've rescued.
