Just say you're crying, Roy. For fucks sake.

If one more person tells me to “stay strong”, I’m gonna fucking lose it. I’m not trying to lift weights, I’m trying to come to terms with my dad being gone.

boys can cry
I think its very important that boys know then can cry that showing emotion isn't weak and I think its wonderful when its shown in media the in book the body (1982) there are three scenes where one of the boys absolutely breaks down and cries and one other where he mentions having cried and they arent shamed for it at all theyre actually told that its okay, this story is set in 1960 and in the movie stand by me (1986) that's based off this book there are three scenes where the boys cry and again they arent shamed for it or anything theyre told its okay and this story is set in 1959 and I think its very important that those scenes are there and quite astounding actually because these stories were written in the 80s and set over twenty years earlier and while im proud of the writers for having this is a popular media source im a little disappointed that I have to be I don't want to be proud that men show boys crying without stigma I want it to be allowed without issue I want it to be commonplace and happen all the time and so normal that no one bats an eye at it that no one is alarmed or astounded
