Hey, I downloaded your Shadow Milk Shimeji, and while it'll run showing the desktop icon and menu options, the buttons don't do anything and he doesn't appear at all. I've tried troubleshooting as much as I could myself, but nothing seems to be working. I'm using the WIndows 11 Version. Please help me if you can. Thanks!
hi! i've actually had a few people mention similar issues with it yes, i'm fairly sure i know what's wrong but as of right not it's not something that i can really walk you through, when i first made the shimeji it was mostly just for myself, so there wasn't a whole lot of testing done and that led some problems with the windows 11 version specifically. However! i haven't talked about it on this account as much but i'm currently making a pv shimeji, and in the process i Think i was able to fix the issue! So what i plan to do is re-release an updated version of the shadowmilk shimeji along with the pv shimeji once i'm done with it, which should happen in the next two weeks if everything goes well!
There will be a lot more testing done this time to make sure that both shimejis work, so i ask everyone who's had this issue to just wait a little longer, i'm not at all an expert on this stuff but i'm doing my best to fix it o77

For a friend, are there any tips you would give someone trying to make their own animatic? Like how do you get the audio for your animatic?
Hi!! i don't know if these will be useful for you but i can talk a bit about how i do things! to be honest my process tends to be kinda messy up until i start lining stuff so apologies in advance lmao
To answer your question, I usually get the audio for my animatics off of youtube or tiktok, i don't really do anything fancy i just copy the link of whatever song i'm gonna use and paste it on one of those "download mp3" websites
you don't Need fancy programs to make animatics, i recommend anything with keyframes if you want to try and move stuff around while editing, i use capcut (if you want to use it, you should look for an older version of this program to avoid needing to pay to export videos) i've heard alight motion is very good too but i like editing from my computer
ended up rambling a little so putting the storyboard stuff under the cut, i'm not a professional this is just how i do things so take everything i say with a grain of salt!
Usually the first step for me is storyboarding, i try to do it as soon as i get an idea because my memory is not the best and i tend to loose the vibe of what i'm going for fast, you don't need a lot of detail for these, nobody is going to see them so you don't need to go that hard, as long as You understand what you're going for you're good
here's a few examples of how mine look, i don't always do this, but for longer animatics you should write down at least some of the lyrics Somewhere in your sketches bcs it's very easy to forget what goes where if you don't.
I have a bad habit on not taking enough notes, don't rely on your head to bring back what you don't write down even if you Feel like you'll remember it, i've had to remake a lot of storyboards bcs my old notes weren't clear enough
Also you should never be married to your first ideas, if you look at these you'll notice that a lot of them have parts that are different form the final videos, i very often cut out stuff for my sanity
Another thing that i Don't do enough but that you Should do is have a general color pallete in mind. Again not an expert on this, but obviously colors can themselves be a form of visual storytelling. I think my best example of this is in my wll animatic, there i made all the softer/happier scenes have yellow colors, meanwhile the. horrors. are mostly blue, actually at the end of that animatic i tried to make things fade from yellow to blue during the greenhouse scene but i'm not sure i executed that very well lmao
i think? that's it? again sorry if this is all kinda messy, didn't touch much on my cleanup process bcs there's honestly not much to say, i just sketch out all the frames, then line them, then color
I do love to yap though so if you have more specifc questions about my process i'm more than happy to answe them! i just tried to generally go over it here 🐦⬛
OK I THINK. that's all my art reposted in here. maybe. probably. at least it's all the art i'm proud of rn. i have And i have At Least five more animatic ideas buzzing around in my head rn so more. soon.

is just putting out several things like once a day good i do Nawt remember how the algorithms work over here. also need to figure out how well animatics do should i embed it via youtube link or should i just put the file here.... much to think about..
that picrew game I added to the other day was a lot of fun for me because I didn't draw my yearly self portrait this recent December. And because I've been having a lot of gender identity thoughts lately.
when I said in the tags "force myself in and out of the closet" I did mean by any force necessary. Part of it was lack of support and part of it was self loathing. I would strip my wardrobe of all pants and masculine clothing and purchase strictly dresses and skirts. I learned how to do my makeup and never left the house without lipstick on. I acted very strange around men my age, all in all it was a sad sight and I was completely aware of what I was doing. I thought it needed to happen.
I was the only kid openly out as trans in my middle school and probably the first in my high-school a year later. Initially I came out to my friends by way of Deviantart journal post, as we all know to be the most clear of routes lol. All this meant nobody seemed to know what to do with it, because we were all kids, they'd never seen this happen before, and to top it all off, prior to that I was staunch about my lesbian identity. Why's [birthname] so into yaoi if she's a lesbian? One kid asked. Good question, guy. Surely that won't come clear to me in a few months.
I wasn't made fun of but I wasn't accepted with open arms. Nobody questioned me and instead chose to act like it didn't happen. Worst I got was someone telling me he didn't think I was trans because my dysphoria wasn't as severe as his. That was cool, I guess. They'd ask each other stuff about my identity behind my back and never to my face. The next kids that came out after me were also transmasc. They veered more traditionally masculine, and had a lot more luck getting their point across. They were accepted and I wasn't. It wasn't their fault and it wasn't mine. I held bad timing against myself cruelly.
So you have zero support at home or anywhere else, what do you do? I hid. I put it away and took it back out and put it away and took it back out and. This act drilled holes in me that are still healing. It occurs to me now, I settled for a nonbinary label because I felt I needed to accept what little resources I had, to find a way to make peace with it. Because change wasn't possible.
Even after I started HRT in my early twenties, something still felt wrong about saying I was nonbinary. Abruptly, my endocrinologist, the only one in the area who took my insurance, moved his office several states east. Once again I was reduced to coping. Instead of fighting it, I stuffed myself back in the closet and called myself agender. Genderqueer, genderfluid, etc. Whatever made it hurt less that 'this is all the change I'm capable of so this is all I'll ever be.' And like, listen, I know not medically transitioning wouldn't have made me any less valid! But the sheer amount of internalized bullcrap that was coursing through me could've powered a city.
Now I live in an area where I have access to trans healthcare. I have the power to take my transition into my own hands. It has been subconsciously seeping into me for months and only recently has total realization looked me in the eyes. I don't regret ever identifying as nonbinary because doing so helped me survive. I would've been living a lie if I tried to stay that way forever, though.
What would you do if you could hit a button and have a male body? My spouse asked me bluntly the other day. I said, "I'd press the button only if the life lessons being female brought me would stay intact."
