From our stationmaster to you
And with that, CrossingsCon 2022 is done! We learned about portal fantasies, gave swords to drunk linguists, discovered the lost Hamster Princess book, and watched Megan Whalen Turner take pictures with every person and grapefruit she could find. Thank you to every one of our attendees, our guests of honor (both in person and remote), our staff, and everyone else who supports CrossingsCon. Because of all of you, we had a hell of a great weekend!
As I write this, most of you are either on your way home, or soon will be. We just had a weekend where you met new friends, hung out with folks you haven’t seen since 2019, and knew that you had something in common with every single person you met for 72 whole hours. That’s a heck of a high to ride - and it means an equally hard drop once mundane life sets back in.
So, what to do? How can you give yourself a soft landing and avoid the dreaded post-con depression? The answer is to keep those connections going. Get your new friends’ contact info and stay in touch. One of the best ways to do that is through our Slack, but texts, group chats, social media, or even snail mail will do the trick. Keep the community alive past this weekend, and you’ll bring a little bit of CrossingsCon into your everyday life.
