With this one-of-a-kind recipe, a simple wine cork can be turned into a tasty appetizer that goes great with a glass of wine. On the outside, the cork rounds get a little crispy, but on the inside, they stay soft. The different tastes and textures are very enjoyable.
Ingredients: 1 wine cork preferably from a bold red wine. 1 tablespoon olive oil. 1 clove garlic, minced. 4 large fresh basil leaves. Salt and pepper to taste.
Instructions: Slice the wine cork horizontally into 1/2 inch thick rounds. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and saut until fragrant, about 1 minute. Place wine cork rounds in the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until lightly browned. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil leaves.
