A ship that needs more love.

Whatever you wanna call it, I like this ship a lot, because for me, it makes sense for the characters based upon how I understand them.  There’s no betraying their cultural beliefs, there’s no betraying who they are, and hell, they even have similar goals as well.  I don’t have to strain myself to grasp and understand the chemistry for this ship either, nor do I have to accept things that, to me, make absolutely no sense.

For me, it’s a ship that starts out small, more of a companionship or friendship rather than something that’s lovey dovey.  If you want smoochy squishy saccharin sweet stuff, this ship is not that. It’s a subtle ship, one built on mutual support and understanding.  It’s a mature ship too.  There are no delusions about the other person, no rose-colored glasses to look through.  These are two adults that have their share of baggage, have their innocence shattered and have lost people, and they know they could just as easily lose one another, so it’s a tentative enjoyment of one another’s company, mixed with delightful subtlety.

Some people like to make it a sort of sadism/masochism type of thing, mixed with domination and submission, but I don’t believe that’s the way it would be.  These two women have suffered enough in life, so I see no reason for them to either wish to harm someone they care about, or to enjoy being harmed by someone they care about.  They’ve both got enough scars already.  Rather, I see it as a comfort and understanding sort of thing. 

Only people who have lost so much can really understand what it’s like for someone else to lose that much.  And for that reason, with both of these women having lost something dear to them, both having second thoughts about the place they call home, and both being strong and independent women with their own insecurities and fears, I honestly love the dynamics of this ship.  There’s no rivalry, just a mutual understanding and trust.  And in Noxus, someone you can truly trust is a rare and beautiful thing.

Both are freakin’ amazing and hilarious, so hopefully both get a lot!

“I would hope there would be fewer orphans, as well as fewer wars.  There are more ways to earn strength and gain allies than through continuous wars for dominance.  Domination breeds more hatred and the cycle of fighting continues.  Something has to give.  If a child can have a parent to instill strength in them, allow them to grow and nurture that belief within themselves, then the Empire grows stronger as a result.”

“What’s gained by destruction and conquest?  Land?  Citizens?  Wealth?  Resources?  These things could be gained without the need for more bloodshed as well.  But so long as High Command only recognizes expansion and conquest as a means to gather strength, it will only serve to turn the eyes from the real problems Noxus faces. The Empire’s greatest threats don’t always come from beyond our borders.  But by enforcing that idea, they distract the citizens from where the real problems are.”
