You hear tell of things happening on live broadcasts and then see them later on YouTube. Like the time that weather man on Sky News flipped off the anchors, which, I think we can all agree, was one of the only good things to ever happen on Sky News.
Well, today Dan and I were privileged enough to see one of these rare events ourselves, live.
Poor Channel 4 News correspondent Michael Crick thought he was just reporting on a rally about leaving the EU in Manchester earlier tonight, when he got interrupted LIVE by one of the audience, who told him to be quiet because he was talking over the speaker on stage. Then he stood in front of the camera.
Krishnan Guru-Murthy kept asking Crick if he wanted to wrap it up, and if he was alright, producers appeared and tried to get the guy to leave him alone, the cameraman tried to move him with a little shove. It was TV GOLD.
Many reporters would have gone to pieces. Not Michael Crick who, once the guy had been removed, carried on valiantly with the rest of his broadcast as if he hadn’t just been told to stop reporting the news by some random man in a blue fleece. He is a hero of journalism.
There aren’t any good videos of this happening just yet, but here’s one that someone recorded on their phone and uploaded. The sounds isn’t good, but it’s still worth a watch.
