Some of my favorite Treasure Planet artwork located on the DVD.
Treasure Planet © Disney
Paintings © the brilliant artists who work or once worked at Disney. I couldn't find their individual names for the above pieces.

Roasting Treasure Planet's trailer
It's an absolute truth if I say the trailer for Treasure Planet was down bad.
I remember it quite well and it didn't even seem Disney. It didn't tell anything about the story, only that there was so much adventure and action.
But the worst thing for me is the fact that it opens with the crescent moon Spaceport. I do not dislike the scene itself at all, but as the first sight you get on a trailer, with no music to enhance the mystery, it gives off a very cold and also unsettling vibe. The first thought you get is "omg the moon has been colonized" (maybe a kid doesn't know much about lunar phases yet). It's an impressive visual in any way possible, but alone it says "this is a futuristic and mysterious world, be amazed and look at it". That's the proof of the importance of context.
It pisses me off knowing that in the movie that scene actually is the climax of a scene about finally chasing a dream. An aster who transforms in a spaceport is the perfect visual to convey the idea that a dream is becoming reality. Who knows, maybe that very image was in Katsenberg's mind when Dreamworks had to design a logo?
To me that's the reason I wouldn't have spoiled that particular scene in the trailer. It's so powerful, but it's also iconic when you know what it actually represents in the movie. Also it's one of the most complex and impressive scenes technically-wise. It would have been a great surprise for the audience to discover and to absorb.
And yet Disney ruined that because they just wanted to show that they were doing CGI too, they were cool and were leaving 2d animation behind too. Ugh.

Some sims say shooting stars over Crescentia are an omen. Some say they're a warning of the Watcher's displeasure, or worse, of That Which Moves In Crooked Paths.
Some sims point out, quite reasonably, that it's rare to have a night without a shooting star around Crescentia, and it'd probably be more worrying if they stopped.
