Monarch and Viceroy are both butterflies that could be added as tortoiseshell prefixes. Did you not add them because they're to close to human words? I'm asking because Comma and Crescent, two butterfly species, are in my clan's area and I've considered adding them to my list. Like Monarch and Viceroy, they're appealing prefixes but I don't know if they're too "humanish" for a prefix or not.
I have excluded Monarch and Viceroy because they are terms applying to systems of government/hierarchy the Clans do not know. Probably the closest they could come would be to call the monarch âleader of toxic orange butterfliesâ and a viceroy âdeputy of toxic orange butterfliesâ and for sake of brevity those would have to be shortened to Orange- for a prefix since you couldnât use butterfly, toxic, or leader. Which is a shame, because theyâre so recognizable.
Crescent you could totally use! Itâs a phase of the moon, and since the moon is sacred to the Clans itâs plausible that they could recognize the shape/symbolic shape of it in other things.
Comma is pushing it, in my personal opinion. It really is just a curved shape, which could possibly be interpreted by cats as a claw symbol?Â
