It was director Luca Guadagnino’s idea to move the locations of Call Me By Your Name from Bordighera (or B. as it is referred in the book) in Liguria, and from Sicily (as was in James Ivory’s screenplay) to a little town in the middle of Lombardy, called Crema. Luca’s decision came from tiredness, as he has said multiple times “I was tired of hotels, I wanted to sleep in my own bed!” To make that happen he moved the entire set to the town where he still lives. This particular scene was shot in front of his home, which has also become one of the focal points of interest for the fans who go there.
