I read a comment on @hellowisconsin 's page by an Anonymous that inspires the need to put on my librarian hat.
Google is not and has never has been a source. It is a search engine. You use it to gather information.
It is up to you to do the work to substantiate something you use as a source.
AI is not a source. AI searches the internet to provide information. It does and can give you incorrect answers.
Wikipedia is not a source. It can be altered by anyone. That can and has provided incorrect information.
Social Media is not a source.
In an era where false information, political and party bias is rampant Government sites (gov.org) are no longer places that you can trust information.
Understand the difference between commentary and actual news.
A famous person spouting their belief systems is an opinion.
I tell my students you need three separate sources on a subject for credible information.
Questions to ask yourself
Can the source be altered by anyone?
Does a company or person gain something from the presented information?
Is the information consistent and backed by at least 3 different sources?
Is an opinion the source of the information?
A fact is a fact. Unless you can refute something with proof you are choosing to believe without evidence.
For example: "The World Is Round" "Columbus never stepped foot in what we call the United States Of America" "Covid is a real disease"
Do the work. Don't believe something just because you read it. Don't blindly follow a person and accept their opinions as fact.
