          HE  TRIES  NOT  TO  get  too  stuck  in  his  own  head,  but  jihoon  doesn’t  know  how  to  let  anything  go.  he  crams  over  his  books  when  he’s  not  following  his  older  brother  around  at  work,  and  all  the  while  he  can’t  help  but  wonder  if  this  is  what  he  really  wants  —  or  if  that  even  matters  at  all.  he  feels  like  he’s  suffocating  and  the  only  one  who  can  save  him  is  himself.

     perhaps  there  is  one  other  person,  too.

     when  the  door  opens  after  jihoon’s  embarrassingly  rapid  and  desperate  knocking,  the  boy  immediately  regrets  it  just  a  little:  surely  theodore  has  more  important  things  to  do  than  deal  with  him.  «  sorry,  is  it  ..  is  it  a  bad  time  ?  i  just  ..  didn’t  know  where  else  to  go,  »  he  admits  sheepishly,  avoiding  the  other’s  gaze  as  his  eyes  flutter  to  the  ground,  scared  of  what  his  own  hues  will  reveal  for  the  other,  how  his  heart  skips  a  beat  just  by  standing  there  in  teddy’s  presence.

“daddy dagger me.” 

chuck was trying really hard to just relax on his day off. he’d been at the fire house for the last 48 hours and that meant he’d get the next 96 hours to himself. in his apartment and his OWN BED. the firefighter was just about to relax in his bed for an early night, much like an old man not a guy of twenty-one, in when he heard it. 

BEEEEEP, BEEEEEEP, BEEEEEEP. 

          THE  BASS  IS  DRUMMING  in  beckett’s  ears  and  the  noise  is  familiar  to  him.  in  his  left  hand  rests  a  bottle  of  vodka  and  in  his  right  there  is  an  unlit  cigarette  that  he  has  forgotten  about  by  now  anyway.  he  always  does  this:  even  if  it  is  a  tuesday  and  he  has  obligations  waiting  for  him  on  the  other  side,  even  if  he  knows  his  body  can  barely  take  it  anymore.

     anything  just  to  feel  something.

     a  series  of  concerning  texts  have  been  sent  out,  and  on  beckett’s  phone  now  rests  an  alarming  number  of   missed  calls.  surely  some  of  them  are  bound  to  be  from  alva  —  the  last  couple  of  texts  sent  their  way  have  been  troubling,  even  though  beckett  wouldn’t  be  able  to  tell  himself.  he  stumbles  out  of  the  house,  laughter  dying  behind  him  as  he  waltz  out  on  the  porch,  suddenly  remembering  the  cigarette  in  between  his  fingers.  as  he  places  it  between  his  lips  he  seems  to  recognize  a  figure  walking  up,  worried  eyes  meeting  his  own.  for  just  a  second,  beckett  wonders  just  how  much  of  a  mess  he  looks  like.

     «  alva  !  you’re  here  !  »  he  exclaims  excitedly,  cigarette  now  dropping  to  the  ground  without  a  second  thought.  «  whatchu  up  to  ?  »

❛ ✖︎   𝚖𝚎𝚖𝚎  ⤷  not  accepting. °

          𝗦𝗛𝗘  𝗗𝗢𝗘𝗦  𝗞𝗡𝗢𝗪  𝗧𝗛𝗔𝗧  because  they  never  let  her  forget,  and  still  tamsin  doesn’t  think  she’ll  ever  truly  get  used  to  it.  the  girl  is  used  to  her  own  ghost-like  presence,  to  be  a  shadow  on  a  wall  no  one  ever  really  looks  at,  and  still  alva  sees  her  and  cares.  they  have  become  more  family  to  her  than  she  suspects  anyone  else  can  ever  be.

     it’s  been  a  lot  —  they  would  know,  because  they  are  always  the  first  she  turns  to  when  she  needs  someone.  they  have  become  a  necessity  to  her  life  and  she  no  longer  knows  how  to  cope  without  knowing  they’ll  be  right  by  her  side,  holding  her  hand  if  she  needs  to.  tami  only  softens  this  much  for  alva,  only  dares  to  show  this  vulnerability  with  them  because  she  knows  it’s  safe  there,  and  when  the  tears  finally  dry  all  she  can  do  is  look  up  at  them  with  big  eyes  and  a  warm  smile.

          𝗛𝗘  𝗖𝗔𝗡𝗡𝗢𝗧  𝗞𝗘𝗘𝗣  𝗗𝗢𝗜𝗡𝗚  this  and  yet  he  keeps  falling  into  bed  with  this  someone  he  will  never  deserve.  beckett  sobers  up  at  night,  man  shedding  his  monster,  and  with  it  always  comes  the  realization  that  he  should  not  be  here.  he  should  not  be  dragging  anyone  down  with  him.  this  is  a  rabbit  hole  he  won’t  be  able  to  climb  out  of:  he  knows  this,  and  this  is  exactly  why  he  drinks  until  his  head  is  swimming  in  it.

     but  he  has  sobered  up.  sobered  up  enough  to  know  that  he  cannot  keep  doing  this  to  alva.

          𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗘  𝗜𝗦  𝗔  𝗦𝗘𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗗  of  silence  as  sunyoung  tries  to  wrap  her  head  around  the  other  woman’s  words.  if  there  is  any  initial  hurt  over  having  heard  that  she  doesn’t  really  emote  she  doesn’t  show  it.  sunyoung  knows  she  has  a  difficult  time  allowing  herself  to  feel  anything  that  can  translate  into  joy,  knowing  such  a  thing  is  fleeting  and  temporary,  but  somehow  this  seems  to  stick  — the  idea  of  the  two  of  them.  she’s  not  entirely  opposed  anymore.  seemingly,  she’s  not  opposed  at  all.

     «  oh,  come  on.  you  have  for  sure  seen  me  laugh  before,  »  she  tries,  but  upon  thinking  of  it  she  realizes  the  other  woman  might  be  right.  she  is  so  caught  up  in  her  own  thoughts  that  she  doesn’t  even  realize  that  she  has  partly  turned  to  stone.

     good  part  is  hyejeong  seems  to  be  breaking  up  her  hard  exterior.

          𝗪𝗛𝗜𝗟𝗦𝗧  𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗦  𝗜𝗦𝗡'𝗧  𝗔  new  situation  for  the  two  to  find  themselves  in,  something  seems  to  have  changed.  jihoon  is  no  stranger  to  this  proximity,  the  intimacy  of  sitting  so  closely  next  to  teddy  as  they  watch  a  crappy  movie  on  his  laptop.  yet  he  feels  nervous  as  he  climbs  closer,  teddy’s  head  threatening  to  lean  against  jihoon’s  chest.  he  wills  his  own  heart  to  calm  down,  but  realizes  that  ultimately  he  has  no  power  here.

     «  huh  ?  »  he  asks,  though  teddy’s  words  are  crystal  clear.  this  is  his  biggest  fear:  that  teddy  will  see  just  what  he  does  to  the  other,  and  that  he  won’t  reciprocate.  jihoon  can  live  with  being  teddy’s  friend  only,  as  long  as  he  gets  to  be  part  of  his  life  somehow.  whatever  shape  or  form  that  implies  is  unimportant.

     although  there  are  some  he’d  prefer  more  than  others.
