“Well, don’t stay out too late, then, Teenie,” her sister replied, and she got up to start clearing up the dishes. Newt moved closer to the door, pulling on his coat as he did so.
Never mind that the werewolf was not their primary objective in leaving the apartment — never mind that there might not even BE a werewolf. Newt was curious, and excited, and quite ready for a late-night exploration of the city.
But it couldn’t quite erase from his mind the thought of being alone again with Tina. Here, now, was his opportunity to say something, to clarify where they stood. If he could find the courage. He needed to know what their kisses meant.
“Ready to go?” he asked.
Tina rolled her eyes, but still touched her sister’s shoulder affectionately on their way out the door. A wordless not was her answer to his question. Pulling her oversize collar up to her face. Donning a clothe hat she looked quite similar to how they had first met. They’d been the opposite of kissing then.
Having visited on multiple occasions he, like Jacob, was accustomed to their quiet sneak out of the boarding brick building. They could easily apparate, but some sort of no maj appearance of entering and exiting had to be kept up.
“MACUSA is half and half on the werewolf rumors,” she informed him when they stepped outside to a rush of cool air. Tina wasn’t sure what being alone with Newt meant. Did he still like her? “I take it you’ve maybe studied them? Or do werewolves not count since they are human as well?”
