I took a great class this semester called When Art Was Science which looked at the use of imagery as a tool for communication during the scientific revolution. My final project was ~going to be~ a screen printed puzzle purse but the pandemic squashed my plans. I was so excited by the idea that I decided to go ahead with the design anyway. My puzzle purse uses words and images to explore optics, aka the science of vision. Here’s a quote from the text on the purse: “... This interactive print is intended to serve as a choose-your-own-adventure meditation on the history of sight, knowledge and imagery. It can be read forward, backward, or by skipping around. It is information reflected and refracted along relational folds.” ***** If you scroll through you can see a video of me opening the print (excuse my general scruffiness, I haven’t left my house in weeks), and some images from my process. Want to see more? YOU CAN PRINT YOUR OWN PUZZLE PURSE AT HOME by following the link in my bio! The google drive file includes full size (15”) PDFs for easy reading, a scaled down version for printing at home and folding instructions. (A video tutorial of folding instructions can also be found on my YouTube channel - fiberistanora.) ***** If you want to hear more about my process, consider supporting me on Patreon by going to www.patreon.com/fiberistanora ✨👁 ✨ #gradschool #interactiveprintmaking #screenprinting #kindof #renaissance #eye #vision #optics #handmadebooks #interactivescholarship #creativeresearch #art #drawing #illuminatedletters #graphicdesign https://www.instagram.com/p/CAA2KjulJQ3/?igshid=zrh9rr354rr6
