The timeline for Donnie’s SO’s pregnancy is right before/during/after Pittfest. He also became an organ donor in that time - he wasn’t wearing that wristband from what I could see in S1, just a beaded bracelet, a watch, and a hair tie thing. He either:
A. Signed up for organ donation and received that bracelet after Pittfest (after seeing all that death and suffering crammed into one shift and saying maybe that’ll happen to me someday but I can make sure it doesn’t happen to others) and THEN found out about the pregnancy (having to remember all the organ donors he’s seen with their families every time he wears that bracelet, but if the inciting incident was pittfest let’s stick with it - remembering how desperate the parents of the fentanyl OD were, how devastated, wondering if that’ll ever happen to him, wondering if it would be better to raise someone so selfless or someone who would never have offered to go for the backpack and maybe been safer for it. if he’s leading by example, where is he leading?)
Or B. Signed up after pittfest AND after having found out about the pregnancy, maybe even after the birth (thinking that everything that life takes away it also gives, and it doesn’t balance because there’s no way to do that with human lives, but man. man. there’s still brightness out there. there’s still territory undiscovered that will make him feel the smallest he’s ever felt, and in a good way, not the way that pittfest did - if he can give the chance to someone to live, to feel that, shouldn’t he? he never wants to leave them, but if the universe takes him away then don’t let it be for nothing.)
