When you wake up in the morning with tousled hair and your lips are swollen with the words you dreamed but could not speak, I'll be beside you, gazing at you like you hold together the earth and its sky. I'll whisper in your ear a sweet "good morning" and my mouth will find its way to press softly against yours - a ritual I could complete with all senses tied in a knot. With a simple kiss I will tell you everything I could not ever find the words to say; like how my fingers will remain firmly entangled into yours come the proverbial better or worse, and how I would trace the dotted line of the equator with my own two feet if it meant you'd be happy the rest of your life, and that I could search the oceans for as far as they stretch and never find another fish like you, not even close. As you begin to form a grin still sluggish with sleep, I start to breathe again, not even realising I'd been holding it in in the first place. You pour my soul back into me while I come alive at your touch and for a moment we are frozen together - a perfect memory. It belatedly comes into my consciousness that there is an all too familiar sound, beating at the background of this ethereal world. I ignore it, but it continues to drum louder with every second I push it away, tearing at you in bits and pieces till you disintegrate and I am reaching for thin air. I crack open an eye and blindly switch off my pounding alarm. I go back to this reality I created by the sheer power of longing. Only for you, baby, only for you.
