I've successfully stopped cracking my knuckles and wrists but I still can't stop cracking my toes, honestly I get these horrid urges and I get uncomfortable to the point it becomes physically unbearable and the only way to stop it is by cracking my toes/ankles (though ankles rarely) and it's come to the point where it's hurting and continuing too often and I want to stop. It doesn't sound like a hard situation to be in etc but I physically can't stop, I'll get itchy toes and then they'll like pulsate then I just crack them without thinking and I hate the noise and my feet are pretty sore any way and doing this really doesn't help. I get ridiculed and my mother always gets up me about it and makes me feel bad for doing it but I just don't know how to stop, none of my tricks are working and the urge is getting worse. Like it took me nearly 8 months to stop cracking my hands/fingers in general but 2 years later I still can't stop this. Cracking my knuckles and so forth first started when I got too anxious or felt like I was about to have an anxiety attack or felt like I was put into some sort of situation I didn't feel right in, basically anytime I didn't feel safe and secure. I finally got passed all that but then one day I hurt my toes on the right foot and found great joy out of cracking them there on out and now it's gotten out of hand (most times it's when I'm relaxed in bed now). Are there any tips to stop? Should I be worried? I really need help with this, I can't control it and I don't like feeling out of control, it might be a small thing for some but for me it's a lot.
