Halas & Vecna were roommates in Wizard School who hated each other’s fuckin guts and grew up to be powerful and extremely petty rivals
it’s why Halas is so disdainful towards lichdom, and he set the time difference in his house that way with the expectation that Veccy would get ganked by some random plucky adventurers sooner rather than later
he wasn’t completely wrong there, but vecna sabotaged halas’s soul gem plan before it happened
hard to say who can claim the last laugh with one banished to the outer realms or wherever and the other stuck in a small rock, but if yussa follows through with yeeting halas’s gem into space they could conceivably bump into each other at some point and spend the rest of eternity uselessly bickering :D
