If asked, Leonard McCoy could generally say with 90% certainty that he’d never feel happy about being coated in bio-luminescent slime.  Of course, that was before Captain James T. Kirk dragged him down to an uncharted planet where the dominant predator on the food chain was a paradoxical creature that both bled bio-luminescent slime and was incredibly sensitive to light. No, Bones didn’t even want to try to explain that one.

Cut off from communication with the Enterprise and lost beneath the unending darkness of a planet with no moon, he and Jim had resorted to traditional combat tactics. Pulse lasers and phasers did nothing against the thick hide of these beasts, but a hastily assembled torch made them shriek and cower before unceremoniously exploding in a burst of strange purple light.

Hence the being coated in slime.

Now, while still at least 90% certain he found no joy in wearing bio-luminescent dreck, Bones could at least admit that he wasn't totally opposed to how it managed to keep him alive. The glowing substance worked better than fire at repelling any additional hungry predators, and for the first time in six hours Bones thought they might actually make it out of this cluster fuck with all their limbs intact.

Evenso, the doctor held his torch out to illuminate the perpetual darkness on this planet, covering Jim’s back as they navigated their way north to higher ground. The strange chemical cloud cover overhead was enough to obstruct communications, but perhaps a higher elevation would allow them to beam back aboard the ship. Dragging the back of his palm over his forehead (the drying bio-slime was beginning to itch), Leonard fervently hoped so…

( Evaluating the workflow of those upon her ship is routine; anyone not working hard enough, or to her liking, is punished, or terminated. An agonizer isn't quite her liking, though it serves it's purpose -- no, she's more of a knives and drawn out pain kind of girl, watching brave faces slowly crumble with each slice.
