I think I found another one to add to the reading list, Pride by: Ibi Zoboi. Based on the cover alone, it looks like it's gonna be a great read. The only thing I know about it so far, is that it's a remix of pride and prejudice. That's all I need to know. If you would like to know more, read bookish_nel's description on this book. . . . Reposted from @bookish_nel - Finished PRIDE two nights ago! It’s a retelling of Pride and Prejudice in contemporary Bushwick. I loved Haitian-Dominican Zuri, who is the reimagined Lizzie Bennet. She’s confident, a wonderful sister, and dedicated to her community. When Darius Darcy’s rich family moves in across the street, issues of class, gentrification, and race are explored through their relationship. Some of the issues were a bit heavy-handed/told not showed, but the marked contrast between how Austen makes social commentary vs how Zoboi does might just be the point of that!! I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a good enemies-to-lovers romance, a smart YA with contemporary issues, and for older teens/new adults about to go to college.
