On peaceful, wintery nights, it is said the flutter of wings can be heard if one is quiet enough. For one family in particular, this is not the case. Three children play outside on the slope of a white hill, yelps of joy coming from their mouths as they throw snow at each other. Their mother and father watch, content, from their bedroom window. Downstairs, the fire of the fireplace begins to settle. The light of it dances across a grey mug. This gives it life. If the family was quiet, they would hear the fairy sneak through the screen of the window. She is full to the brim with a love for the world around her. It matters not that no one sees her. In the morning, they will know the imprint she leaves in each household she visits whenever inspiration strikes: a deep blue night sky, a golden moon and matching stars dotting it, deep green treetops reaching towards it, most of them laced with snow. The children come inside. The fairy flutters away.
