Covered Decks: Because Kansas Weather Is a Troll
Opening Line: One minute it’s sunny, the next it’s a monsoon. My deck is basically a weather roulette wheel.
The Problem: I’d love to use my deck more, but between sudden downpours and blazing sun, it’s either a slip hazard or a frying pan. A roof would help, but I don’t want it to feel like a cave.
The Discovery: The Decksperts’ Covered Decks & Porches page showed me options I didn’t know existed—like partial covers with open sides or skylights to keep it bright.
Takeaways:
Gutters matter: Otherwise, rain pours off the roof right onto your stairs.
Lighting: String lights under the overhang = instant cozy.
Closing Thought: A covered deck might be the only way I ever eat outside again. Worth the investment? Probably.
