❛ I can’t believe we’re dating. ❜ (lISTEN I had to)
“Say it louder, I don’t think my parents heard you.” Sophie whispered as she stood awkwardly next to the blonde. She was seriously beginning to doubt asking for Cami’s help, but as she heard the footsteps leading to the front door she reminded herself that there was no time now. She hurried to grab the blonde’s hand as the door swung open and gave her mother the biggest smile she could muster - which still was less than half the size of her fake-girlfriend’s.
Cami was enjoying this way too much.
Her mother gave them a once over before turning and walking back from the direction she came, leaving the door open for Sophie and her companion to enter themselves. Taking a deep breath she turned to Cami to remind her there was no going back once they entered only to find the blonde already staring at her. “Hey, at least she didn’t slam the door in our face. Maybe she likes blondes.” Cami remarked helpfully. “No,” Sophie sighed again, playing with the hand that was still entwined with hers. “I think interrogating us during dinner is more her style. Anyway you ready-” She cut herself off as Cami pushed past her, dragging her through the doorway. It was too late to find someone else now, right?
She could vaguely hear Cami compliment her mother on the decor on the walls and she internally groaned, ready for her mother to snap back a reply, too polite to be considered rude but too rude to be considered sincere. Except instead of the usual tone of voice her dates would get, her mother started gushing before going on a tangent about getting the paintings in Italy. Her initial hesitance dissolved but she now realized that she was going to owe her friend pretty much forever for this. Maybe she’d accept repayment in the form of unlimited gratitude and possibly a homemade pizza and movie later?
❛❛ This is the man that I plan to entangle. ❜❜
Allison’s eyes swept the racks for something eye catching. The trivial sounds of Christmas cheer blared through the static ridden speakers. Bodies buzzed around the small shop looking for the right gift for that special some one. Lace, linen, and satin saturated every inch with such enticing colors. Black are dreamy and seductive. Reds sultry and lusting. Dusty rose and muted pastels for something sweet. There were so many choice that packed such powerful meanings. It amazed her just how impactful a color could be to the mind; almost like a trigger for a positive and negative response.
She swallowed back the thickness in her throat at the sight of the deep red color. The fabric shimmered beneath the light; far too animated to be linked with blood. Allison shook off wariness and pulled it from the chaos. This is a fun, normal teenage experience. You can be fun and light and cliche for an evening.
“You said you wanted to entangle this man. I’d like to see him against this number,” she held it up to the blonde with a cheeky grin. “Call him in with the curves and kill him with the leg.”

Flashback: The Bathroom Brawl || Jen, Cami & Eve
Having made the circulations as one does in events like this Jennifer felt she’d rather outdone herself, she’d been gracious to the host, acquired the promise of an evening with Damon, earned more of dear Matthew’s trust, played nice with Hayley and indulged little Camille by the jazz band. All the while playing the charming last-minute stand-in and friend to Evelyn. Combine such success with riding the wave of Friede’s sacrifice and Jennifer had rarely been in a better mood, and she let it show, smiling, laughing, and returning to Evelyn to dish on all she’d done.
As she was speaking with the other woman she’d spotted one of her little indulgences, Camille, nipping into the bathroom. A wicked idea crossed her mind, spurned on by her current elation. “Evelyn dear,” she said lightly, “I’ve just got to nip and power my nose, would you mind terribly waiting outside for me? If we split up it’ll take forever to find each other again.”
With that said she led the other to the bathroom and wriggled her fingers before stepping inside, the door swung shut behind her and she zeroed in on Cami in front of the mirrors, they had the room all to themselves. Perfect.
“Tell me dear,” Jennifer began walking up to the mirror herself and pretending to adjust her, still perfect, hair, “Did you enjoy dancing with Marcel? I couldn’t help but see the pair of you, I had no idea you were so close.” Her words reeked of sincere pleasure, though she knew the other would never allow herself to believe it.
In fact... she was counting on it.

“do it. i dare you.”
“B-but!” Kira began, tears unconsciously welling up in her widened eyes as she stared into Cami’s slightly narrowed, unrelenting blues. Those were not the eyes of someone she could talk into taking the dare back. Whining to herself, Kira chewed nervously on her bottom lip, turning back to her open laptop and opening a Google Document. This wasn’t just any document, not even just any short story. It was her Frankenstein, her Jane Eyre, written in one night and edited every night for a month until it was as close to perfection as she could get. And Cami had just dared her to submit it to the 2017 Watty Awards. The anxious young writer stared at the ‘submit’ button onscreen for what felt like ages before a high pitched squeak left her lips.
“I can’t do it, I can’t do it, I can’t- Cami!” Her panicked shouts had the eyes of almost every patron in the cafe focused solely on the two women occupying a table, but Kira was completely oblivious. Hers were too busy boring holes into Cami’s, as if refusing to look at her laptop screen would erase the blonde’s actions. But the innocent grin told her that wasn’t going to happen.
“There you go, it’s submitted! Now, how should we celebrate?”
Kira nearly passed out then and there.
Talking about monsters...
Matt stood in front of Rousseau's and he kinda let the text messages go through his mind. He still didn't really know if he was somehow losing his mind or if maybe there was something going on in the world he didn't really wanna know anything about. But he didn't really want Cami to figure this whole thing out, whether or not it was the thing that they had lost their minds, on her own. He pushed the door open and sat down on one of the stools. "Hey..."

“I promise, if I meet a guy out there who takes my hand, and looks me in the eyes, and I don’t wanna hit him, I’ll consider it.”
Ric had lost track of time, the only indication being the fact that the bar was now utterly empty bar himself and blondie perched across from him, bent over that bar in her usual fashion. She really was a sight, and perhaps the only reason he put up with sitting in Rousseau’s for hours upon end.
“So why do I never hear you talk about a man?” He asked, lifting a brow quizzically. She looked down at him with a slight frown, his inquiry unusually personal for their mostly-banter relationship. “I’ve not really had anyone catch my eye…” She quipped, a slight grin lifting the corner of her lips. “Makes sense. Definitely wouldn’t be because you don’t get many offers, I mean… look at you.” The grin spread, lighting up her features as she shrugged. “I get plenty of offers, but I promise, if I meet a guy out there who takes my hand, and looks me in the eyes, and I don’t wanna hit him, I’ll consider it.”
Alaric bit his lower lip, leaning over the bar just slightly to take hold of Cami’s slender hand. His thumb rubbed ever so gently over the soft skin as he glanced up, gazing into her eyes with the most sincere look he could muster.
“Well? Do I look like a target or not?” He asked coyly, winking at her playfully.
