The flashes started before either of you had even made it to your seats.

Reporters called your names from every direction while photographers practically climbed over each other trying to get the perfect shot.

Jaafar reached for your hand automatically.

"You good?"

You smiled.

"Always."

The two of you sat down across from the interviewer.

At first

Everything was normal.

"So, congratulations on all your recent projects."

"Thank you."

"You've both had incredible years."

"We've definitely been blessed."

The questions stayed professional.

Music.

Upcoming performances.

Family.

Fashion.

Until...

The interviewer leaned forward with a smile that immediately made Jaafar suspicious.

"So..."

"Everybody online always talks about how strong your personalities are."

"You especially."

He looked toward you.

"Some people think Jaafar is too soft for someone like you."

The room got quiet.

You opened your mouth.

Jaafar beat you to it.

"What?"

The interviewer laughed

"I'm just saying"

"No."

Jaafar leaned forward.

"What exactly are you saying?"

"Well"

"A lot of people feel like she kind of wears the pants in the relationship."

"And maybe you just..."

"...go along with whatever she says."

You looked over at your husband.

His jaw clenched. (I just pictured that) 

"You know what's funny?"

The interviewer blinked.

"What?"

"You've only been talking to us for ten minutes."

"And somehow you've managed to disrespect both of us. This is why my family doesn't do interviews anymore."

"I didn't mean…"

"No."

"You meant exactly what you asked."

"You assumed that because my wife is confident, that makes her difficult."

"You assumed that because she's successful, outspoken, and doesn't make herself smaller for anybody"

"That somehow I couldn't 'handle' her."

He actually laughed.

"I don't need to handle my wife."

"I love my wife."

"There's a difference."

"I think people are just curious…"

"No."

"They're comfortable."

"Comfortable asking questions they'd never ask any other couple."

You reached over and rested your hand on his knee.

He didn't even look away from the interviewer.

"You know what else?"

"You keep saying she has a 'big personality.'"

"That's one of the reasons I married her."

The interviewer tried again.

"But people still wanna know"

"Who's actually in charge at home?"

You burst out laughing.

Jaafar sighed, already tired of his bullshit. If he had known the interview would go this way, he would have stayed home.

"Neither of us."

"We're adults."

"We communicate."

"We compromise."

"It's actually incredibly boring."

Now, even the crew backstage was laughing.

The interviewer looked disappointed that he wasn't getting the reaction he wanted.

"So no arguments?"

"Oh, we argue."

"About normal things."

"Like who forgot to buy groceries."

"Or who keeps stealing the blanket?"

You immediately pointed at him.

"You literally stole it last night."

"I was cold."

"You rolled yourself into it like a burrito."

“Again, I was cold.”

"So..."

"Would you ever ask her to tone herself down?"

Before you could even react to yet another stupid ass question. 

Jaafar answered.

"Absolutely not."

"I fell in love with exactly who she is."

"If anybody has a problem with that, that's really not our issue."

You smiled at him.

He finally looked over.

"What?"

"You know I love you, right?"

"I know."

"I just like hearing you say it."

He smiled.

"I love you."

The interviewer looked down at his cards.

"I think..."

"That's probably a good place to end."

As soon as the cameras stopped rolling

You wrapped both arms around his waist.

"My hero."

He kissed your forehead.

"He was getting on my nerves."

"I noticed."

"I tried to be nice."

1. How did you two meet?

Adam: that’s fairly obviously.

Clare: only if they watched the BC

Adam: I don’t know how they could have missed it.

Clare: maybe they don’t watch TV

Adam: then they won’t be watching this interview.

Clare: I really wish you weren’t so logical sometimes.

Adam: you don’t.

Clare: wanna bet?

Adam: I don’t bet.

2. Who is the most jealous of you two?

Clare: don’t say it.

Adam: what? I didn’t say anything.

Clare: I saw that I roll in my direction.

Adam: but I didn’t say it. Besides I haven’t done anything to warrant your jealousy.

Clare: you’re right you haven’t but .....

Adam: it’s her werewolf genes. 

Clare: I don’t need you giving me excuses either. I’m not jealous.

Adam: uh huh

Clare: (growls softly)

3. What are your three favourite physical things about your partner?

Adam: her red hair....

Clare: he does have a thing for red hair.

Adam: you’re jealousy is showing.

Clare: I’m not jealous.

Adam: (smirking) anyway I way I love the way her eyes sparkle. They’re so expressive. And her brain.

Clare: my brain! 

Adam: yep. I like that you keep me on my toes and challenge me.

Clare: you’re the challenge....

Adam: I beg to differ but it’s your turn.

Clare: oh (eyes sparkling) like his body next to mine...

Adam: Clare.....(his voice rising in warning) let’s keep it PG.

Clare: I didn’t say anything wrong. Anyone with eyes would agree with me. I like the way he pretends to be all stuffy and proper. His eyes. 

4. Who’s more likely to be running late?

Adam: I’m never late.

Clare: we have guards that show up to escort us to wherever we need to be so it’s almost impossible to be late.

Adam: that’s true. 

5. Who is the most organised and who is the messiest?

Clare: I’d say we both are fairly organised but I tend to be messier.

Adam: I have to agree with on that. 

6. Who is the bigger flirt? (flirts the most?)

Adam: I don’t know how to flirt.

Clare: (rolls her eyes) liar. We all saw you on the bachelor. You flirt.

Adam: I don’t know what you’re talking about.

Clare: don’t let his innocent act fool you. He flirts.

7. Who does the most cooking?

Clare: that would be me. I enjoy watching him eat.

Adam: what can I say I like eating. After years of consuming plasma juice I like the taste of real food.

Clare: I can tell.

Adam: are you calling me fat?

Clare: well...you have put on a few pounds.

8. How do you feel about kids and do you want them? If so how many?

Clare: (whimpers a little)

Adam: (takes her hand and kisses) We want kids. We will have kids. 

9. Who wears the pants in the relationship?

Clare: (wiping her eyes) we do.

Adam: we discuss everything before making any final decisions.

10. What’s your partner’s least favourite housework task?

Adam: dishes. She likes to cook but hates to wash them.

Clare: that’s true but you always offer to do them.

Adam: because I know how much you dislike washing them.

11. What was the first thing you noticed about each other?

Adam: her hair. It’s so bright.

Clare: (rolling her eyes) there we go again with the hair.

Adam: I can’t help it. I like red.

Clare: what if I color it?

Adam: you still have your eyes.You can’t change them. At least not the fire in them

Clare: I noticed the way he treated everyone. You just go the feeling he really cared even though you knew he was mourning his wife.

12. What does your partner do that pisses you off?

Adam: she’s always ready to fight for me.

Clare: his need to protect me. 

Adam: can’t help it. I protect everything precious to me.

Clare: aw (leaning into him) that’s the only reason why I tolerate it.

13. Where’s the craziest/weirdest place you’ve ever had sex?

Adam: um our room? I mean we really can’t be wild and crazy with guards around us 24/7.

Clare: so that means you would if you could?

Adam: (cheeks turning crimson) maybe

14. Do you know your partner’s love language, if yes what is it?

Adam: oh it’s definitely in her eyes and the way she looks at me. There’s also this growl she makes....

Clare: that’s enough I don’t want everyone to know. 

Adam: afraid someone will get ideas?

Clare: it’s best not to take chances.

Adam: and she says she’s not jealous.

15. Where do you see the 2 of you in 10 years?

Clare: married definitely

Adam: married with children.

Clare: really?

Adam: definitely

Braylin: it was at a charity event my teammates and I held for the local hospital.

Trebor: Everywhere I turned I kept bumping into this guy.

Braylin: I didn’t hear any complaints.

Trebor: (blushing) it was late. I was tired. His place was close by. I took him up on his offer. I still didn’t get a whole lot of sleep though.

Braylin: (smirking) oh you slept....like a baby once I wore you out.

2. Who is the most jealous of you two?

Trebor: oh he is (points at Bray) Definitely!

Braylin: hey I’m not jealous just protecting my interests.

Trebor: uh huh right. What about that time when Dr Bracket....

Braylin: the guy didn’t need to be standing that close to you

Trebor: he didn’t want to be overheard...

Braylin: and there were the little hand touches

Trebor: he didn’t

Braylin: he did

Trebor: (rolling his eyes) whatever

Braylin: just because you’re oblivious to the guys advances doesn’t mean I am. But that doesn’t make me jealous. I just don’t like the guy.

3. What are your three favourite physical things about your partner?

Braylin: his chest, his eyes and of course his....

Trebor: don’t say it. 

Braylin: say what? You don’t know what I was going to say.

Trebor: I do...everything with you turns sexual.

Braylin: (lips twitching touching Trebor’s overheated cheeks) I love it when he blushes. Now tell me what you like about me. I know what one of them is already.

Trebor: do not. I like his lips, his abs and....

Braylin: go ahead say it. I’m waiting.

Trebor: next question.

4. Who’s more likely to be running late?

Braylin: I’m never late unlike someone I could name.

Trebor: I can’t help it. I work in the ER. It’s not like I can tell my patient to stop bleeding because my shift ended ten minutes ago. 

Braylin: I know babe. I’ve learned to accept.

Trebor: I always make it up to you don’t I?

5. Who is the most organized and who is the messiest?

Braylin: I’ve learned to never touch anything on or near Trebor’s desk. He knows when something’s been moved.

Trebor: I wish the same was true about my closet. He’s always messing up how I have things layed out.

Braylin: who organizes their closet? I mean as long as the clothes are hanging up and not on the floor I’m good. 

6. Who is the bigger flirt? (flirts the most?)

Trebor: that award goes to Bray. He flirts with everyone.

Braylin: I wouldn’t say everyone.

Trebor: what about Mrs Shipley down the hall?

Braylin: she’s 82. It makes her smile. Besides she bakes us stuff.

Trebor: oh yeah. Maybe you can get her to bake us a coconut cream pie.

Braylin: I’ll see what I can do.

7. Who does the most cooking?

Braylin: I can’t boil water. I do most of the ordering out though.

Trebor: if I’m not working at the hospital I do the cooking. 

Braylin: he’s a pretty good cook too.

8. How do you feel about kids and do you want them? If so how many?

Trebor: sure I’d like to have 1 or 2. Not right now. I want to finish my residency first so that I have more time to spend with them. 

Braylin: definitely what he said. I travel to much for games to want kids right now.

9. Who wears the pants in the relationship?

Braylin: that’s a weird question. We both wear pants.

Trebor: not actual pants. They want to know who makes most of the decisions and stuff.

Braylin: well then that’s me. 

Trebor: whatever. We both do.

Braylin: yeah we both do. But I usually get my way.

Trebor: only because I let you.

10. What’s your partner’s least favourite housework task?

Trebor: he doesn’t do anything

Braylin: it’s not my fault that you don’t like the way I do things.

Trebor: how hard is it to wash dishes?

Braylin: I haven’t figured out your process yet.

Trebor: it’s not that hard. Glasses first, then bowls, plates, silver ware then the pans. It’s not difficult.

Braylin: He’s given me dirty looks when I put a glass in the sink before.

Trebor: because I was doing pans. You can’t mix the two.

11. What was the first thing you noticed about each other?

Braylin: I liked the way he looked. I couldn’t wait to see what he was hiding beneath all those clothes.

Trebor: I noticed he was one of the few people at the charity event who wasn’t drinking. It impressed me enough.

Braylin: and I got to see what he was hiding...

Trebor: I should have made you wait for it.

Braylin: but I’m irresistible.

12. What does your partner do that pisses you off?

Braylin: when he volunteers to work more shifts. He works too hard and I miss  him.

Trebor: when he throws a fit when I have to work and tries to convince me to stay home instead. 

13. Where’s the craziest/weirdest place you’ve ever had sex?

Braylin: he’s kind of a conventional kind of guy

Trebor: meaning he thinks I’m boring. But I do recall a time we snuck off into a supply closet at the hospital.

Braylin: oh yeah (smirking) so we did.

14. Do you know your partner’s love language, if yes what is it?

Trebor: he get’s this certain look in his eyes. No one else has ever looked at me like that. It turns me into a puddle of mush whenever he looks at me like that.

Braylin: he’s very reserved but when I can break through his reserves his hands and mouth speak to me like no one else has ever done before.

15. Where do you see the 2 of you in 10 years?

Trebor: in ten years I hope to have my private practice set up and we can start on those 1 or 2 kids we want.

Braylin: let’s not forget about the wedding and a house.
