Illya set aside the paper on the bench next to her; she had never been particularly interested in the news, especially when she didn’t really participate in anything, nor did she know the vast majority of the people mentioned in the Fuyuki local newspaper. It had been more-or-less dumped on her by Taiga that morning when the English teacher had been in a rush to get to school--probably forgot something again--so she had picked it up, but it was predictably boring.
Shirou, Rin, and Sakura were all at school, so she didn’t have anything to entertain her, not really. She had learned how to work the controls on the TV, but that didn’t mean there was anything interesting on. She had been more puzzled than anything else by the film she’d found, and while she’d considered cooking, she was equally sure it wasn’t a good idea. At least, not without Shirou around. So she’d dragged the newspaper out to the park, where it was about as empty as one could expect on a day in the middle of the week.
The white-haired homunculus kicked her feet against the bench’s legs. Why couldn’t the universe give her something entertaining to do, so that she didn’t just end up dying of boredom here? She slid off the bench, leaving the newspaper--if Taiga wanted to read it, she could just get another one, there were plenty around--and walked to the entrance, pausing in step as she felt something. Ah--another magus was in town? So soon after the end of the war?
Her eyes narrowed; well, she had asked for something entertaining, and she supposed this was a good enough answer. So she crept around the small groups of people in the shopping district, following the unfamiliar magus, though she did have to pick up her pace, as her legs were much shorter. With as much dignity as she could muster, like she hadn’t been following him for the past five minutes, she fell into step next to him, asking rather nonchalantly, “And what brings you to Fuyuki City?”
